Uncommon Georgia Snow or DUI?

As you know, Georgia gets very little snow. Even when we do, it doesn't seem to last very long. But this winter, most of the state has seen SOME snow and this has made for some difficult driving conditions. So think about this: You are driving on one of Georgia's many back roads during this last snowstorm. You're driving slow and careful to avoid icy patches. You may put your brakes on a bit just as a precaution or you could have seen a patch of ice. A police car is behind you and assumes you are DUI so he pulls you over.

The policeman sees what he thinks are bloodshot, glassy eyes and hears slurred speech as you give explanations. Then he thinks you are fumbling with your license and registration. With all this he assumes you are drunk; never thinking that these could be signs of the cold draft of having your window rolled down. Then he asks you to get out and perform some tests like standing on one foot. You stumble a bit mainly because it's cold out or maybe you're just someone used to standing on both legs. Next you are asked to walk heel to toe. Well some people aren't gymnasts so they might not do well with that either. Now to an officer, all this leads to you being arrested for DUI.

But wait! Won't the breath test save me? Possibly. But they are VERY inaccurate and often produce false positives. Sometimes the false positives can come from mouthwash use, cough syrup, even bread! False positives also are common in folks with diabetes, GERD and other medical conditions.
