Atlanta Braves Pitcher gets DUI

At the end of last month, Atlanta Braves pitcher Derek Lowe was pulled over and charged with driving under the influence, or DUI. 37 year old Lowe was also charged with reckless driving and improper lane change. He issued a statement saying that he hopes he can get the case resolved quickly. Atlanta police officers pulled Lowe over at around 10 pm on Peachtree Road. The officers believe that Lowe was racing another car. Lowe was driving his 2011 porsche. Mr. Lowe spent the night in the Atlanta city jail.

The Atlanta officers asked Lowe to take field sobriety tests and detected the odor of alcohol. Officers then asked Lowe to submit to a breath test, but Lowe refused. Refusing to take a breath test can have adverse effects on your drivers license. Police officers must give the accused driver an implied consent notice.
