Atlanta Strip Club Found Liable for High BAC of DUI Driver

In July of 2008, three young women were driving in the Atlanta area when their car was hit head on by a wrong way, DUI driver on I-20. It was later revealed that the wrong way driver had spent the evening drinking alcohol at a Moreland Ave. strip club. Both drivers were killed in the crash as was one of the passengers. The strip club, Club Blaze, was held liable in DeKalb County for the incident and last week the jury awarded $1.75 million to the victims estate. The club was found to have served alcoholic drinks to the at-fault driver to the point when he was significantly impaired and then allowed him to get into a motor vehicle and drive. An investigation showed that his blood alcohol content (BAC) was well above Georgia's BAC limit of .08. The driver was at .398, an extremely high level that could kill many people. Attorneys on behalf of Club Blaze say that the decision will be appealed and the Club is not at fault.
