Last week in Los Angeles, actor Gary Dourdan, best known for his role on the hit television show CSI, was arrested after he crashed his car into a parked car while allegedly under the influence of pills. The arresting officer found pills in the actor's car following the accident. Mr. Dourdan is likely to be facing a DUI - drug charge. In Georgia, more and more arrests are for DUI -drugs (as opposed to DUI - alcohol offenses). Roswell police officers will charge you with driving under the influence of marijuana if you are pulled over for a traffic offense and the officer smells the odor of marijuana or feel that you appear to be under the influence of marijuana. This is troubling as marijuana does not have the close link with impaired driving that alcohol has. Even mere possession of marijuana in Roswell will lead to an offense where you face a 6 month suspension of driving privileges. But an arrest does not mean a conviction. These cases can be fought and won.
