Peach County Drug Court
Peach County has their own Drug Court that was developed in hopes of reducing criminal and recidivism for DUI offenders. This program provides a rehabilitative alternative to jail time and/or a commitment to the Department of Community Supervision. The program has three phases of intervention and involves family, group, and individual counseling, frequent drug tests, and numerous court appearances. Some of the program features include:
- 18 months of alcohol or drug intensive outpatient treatment
- Random drug testing
- Scheduled court appearances before a judge
- Participation in AA or NA support group meetings
- Community services
- Courses to help participant return to a crime-free, drug free lifestyle
- Incentives as well as sanctions related to progress and non-compliance
The intent of the Peach County Drug Court is multifold. While they want participants to live a healthy drug free lifestyle, they also focus on building life skills in the participant. The participant may be required to take classes to increase self-esteem or social skills. They may also take classes that will enhance their employment skills.
While avoiding jail time is an incentive for most people, entering into Drug Court is not a decision that should be taken lightly. It requires a lot of effort and just one mistake can result in sanctions. Participants who do not comply with the rules may be moved back into a previous phase, assigned community service, or placed in custody. A participant who successfully completes the program will have the charges removed from their official record. Before entering into this type of program, we urge you to consult with our Peach County DUI Lawyers. We will walk you through the process and make sure you are prepared to enter into this program.
