University of North Georgia DUI Charges and Related Offenses

If charged with DUI, it is usually accompanied by another related offense that may have lead to the DUI charge. For instance, sometimes people are pulled over for failure to maintain lane, and then once pulled over, the police officer starts to initiate a DUI investigation. Then, upon arrest, the driver is charged with both DUI and failure to maintain lane. Our Lumpkin County DUI Attorneys know how to fight both the DUI charge and the underlying offense. Sometimes getting the underlying offense thrown out can lead to a dismissal of the DUI case.

At The Law Offices of Richard S. Lawson, our DUI Lawyers in Lumpkin County have handled thousands of DUI cases and have been successful in defending against the DUI and the related offense. Some of the charges we frequently see college students charged with include:

Disorderly Conduct: Disorderly conduct is a frequently charged offense that is used broadly and includes a variety of behaviors. A person can be charged with disorderly conduct when they act in a violent manner that leads a person to reasonably fear for their safety, or when they use “fighting words”, and many other ways.

Underage DUI: The BAC for a person under 21 years of age is .02%. While that is a low level, a conviction can lead to serious consequences. If you have found yourself charged with underage DUI, contact one of our DUI Lawyers at the University of North Georgia today.

Possession of Marijuana: We frequently see college students arrested for possession of marijuana. Even though possession of less than one ounce is considered a misdemeanor, a drug conviction can follow you for the rest of your life.

Public Drunk: Public drunkenness charges happen more often than people think. Even if you did the right thing by not getting behind the wheel, you can still be arrested for breaking the law. Let one of our experienced Lumpkin County DUI Lawyers handle your public drunkenness case.
