Administrative License Suspension (ALS) Hearings

The ALS hearing provides an opportunity to fight the case for license suspension in a DUI case. In order to have this opportunity, you must request it in writing within 30 days of the date of your arrest. It is to your advantage to retain a Bibb County DUI Lawyer to represent you at the ALS hearing. A license suspension will add serious complications to your life but it can be prevented or the length of time can be reduced with the assistance of our DUI Attorneys in Bibb County.

This ALS hearing is separate from the criminal process that you are likely more familiar with. After the ALS hearing is resolved, you still have to go before a judge and face consequences such as jail time, probation, community service, and fines. Our firm exclusively serves drivers charged with driving under the influence. We have resolved over 5,000 DUI cases and have assembled a team of experts to support the case for you, both in criminal court and at an ALS hearing. Contact us today.

Ignition Interlock Devices

Within 30 days of your arrest, you must either request an ALS hearing or install an ignition interlock device on your vehicle. After installation, you need to go to the Georgia Department of Driver Services to apply for an ignition interlock permit. If you took a blood, breath, or urine test, then the device must be on your car for at least 120 days. If you refused testing, the device must be on your vehicle for 12 months and cannot be removed for any reason. Even if you win your case or it is reduced to reckless driving, the device will have to stay on your vehicle.

This is a big change from the past when winning the underlying case, or getting it reduced to another charge, eliminated the administrative license suspension. That is why installing the device is a big commitment, and it is not for everyone. When facing this decision, please call one of our Bibb County DUI Lawyers to help evaluate your options.

Hiring a Bibb County DUI Lawyer

It is unfortunate that many general practitioners in Bibb County attempt to represent individuals charged with DUI. DUI prosecutions are highly technical and general practitioners do not always understand the subtle nuances of DUI law on which cases are won. On the criminal prosecution side, scientific issues arise in most contested cases regarding biochemistry, anatomy, physiology, and spectrophotometric. Lawyers who do not maintain an exclusive DUI practice are usually not well versed in the intricacies of breath test principles and are not as able to challenge the science behind the tests. General practitioners are also not usually trained in the appropriate procedures of field sobriety tests and do not possess the knowledge critical in impeaching the officers credibility. All of the Bibb County DUI Attorneys at our office have decades of DUI experience and are skilled in obtaining the best possible results for our clients. Call now and see how we can make all the difference.
