Atlanta, Ga. - As of this morning, Georgia State Troopers are investigating four different collisions that occurred on I-75 near Midtown Atlanta this morning.

Eight total vehicles were involved in the wrecks. The collisions shut down the interstate at the Brookwood split for over two hours. Not a lot of details have been released, but two of the eight vehicles were reportedly commercial vehicles while six were passenger cars. Fortunately, no serious injuries have been reported.

As an Atlanta DUI Lawyer, I've explained how our firm specializes not only in DUI Law but also DUI related offenses. In today's post, I will cover some of the offenses that are commonly seen with DUI in Atlanta that also involve collisions on Georgia roadways.

Accidents and DUI

Accidents and collisions typically result in some criminal charges. A lot of the time, they can also lead to further investigations, which can also lead to more charges. When a case involves both DUI and an accident charge such as Following Too Closely or Hit and Run, the charges add on to each other and support each other.

If a driver is involved in a car accident, the accident itself can be used to support a DUI charge by showing that he or she was less safe to drive depending on the circumstances of the accident. Moreover as stated above, car accidents can lead to additional charges and additional penalties.

Any traffic violation is additional support for the prosecution's claim that a driver was less safe to drive. When the violation involves an accident, the combined circumstances may make an individual appear guilty. This is especially true if the accident involves a hit and run. This is because it shows that the driver failed to take responsibility for his or her involvement and you injured another's person or property.

There are various other charges that could be added. This is why it is of the utmost importance to hire representation.
